Use
Igniting the burners
The control knobs on these models incorporate both ignition and a burner safety device.
To ignite the burners, proceed as follows:
1. Turn the chosen control knob.
2. Keep the knob pressed down for 3 or 4 seconds in order to allow the sparks to ignite
the gas as it exits through the flame-spreader crown, and to allow the thermocouple to
heat up.
3. After 3 or 4 seconds, release the knob and turn it anti-clockwise to adjust the flame to
the desired setting. If the flame goes out, repeat the operation from step 1.

Burner use
For better use of the burners and more efficient gas consumption, use pans whose
diameter is proportional in size to that of burners. Ensure that flames do not extend
beyond the edge of pans (consult the table).
Automatic safety valve
This safety device automatically shuts off the gas supply in the event one of the burners
goes out accidentally as a result of a sudden draught, a pot spilling over, or an interruption
in the gas delivery. This device intervenes approximately 30 seconds after the burner
flame has gone out.
Hob care and maintenance
Before carrying out any cleaning or maintenance operations on the hob, always unplug the
appliance or switch off the power at the mains using the main switch.
• Stainless steel and enamelled parts will remain pristine if regularly cleaned with water
and proprietary detergents. Remember to dry carefully after cleaning.
• To restore the original sheen, from time to time use Franke's specially formulated
stainless steel cleaner and microfibre cloth, both available from your retailer or Franke
After-sales Service.
• Under no circumstances must scouring pads, steel wool, muriatic acid or other
products which might scratch or grind the surface, be used.
• Do not leave acid or alkaline substances or rusty iron items on the hob.
• The burners and flame-spreader crowns can be removed from the hob and cleaned
with hot soapy water; dry thoroughly after cleaning. Make sure that gas outlet areas
are spotlessly clean.
• The natural colour of panstand grids, where pots and pans rest, may alter over time as
a result of heat. To clean the panstand grids, proceed as with the burners.
