Av mode 
The 35mm F1.4 ED AS IF UMC Pentax (Samsung GX) K mount 
supports Av. 

1)

 

Line up the A mode indicator with the depth of field scale by 
pressing the A button on the aperture ring of the lens. 

2)

 

Set the mode selector to ‘Av’. 

3)

 

Set the focus selection wheel to ‘MF’. 

4)

 

Adjust the menu on the camera. 
The user adjusts the menu.

Adjust the brightness by turning the wheel on the back of the 
camera. 

Sony (Minolta) α 

The aperture of the 35mm F1.4 ED AS IF UMC Sony (Minolta) mount is not geared toward this 
camera. 
If the f-stop is set to 8 or larger, you may not be able to focus correctly as you will have problems 
seeing the subject through the viewfinder. 
Therefore, focus the subject after attaching the lens to the camera with open aperture and then turn 
the aperture ring in order to adjust to the desired depth of field and 
brightness.

Set the camera mode selection wheel to ‘M’.

Set the focus selection button to ‘MF’. 

 

3)

 

Adjust the shutter time in order to achieve the appropriate 
exposure for this brightness. 

 

Konica Minolta (Minolta) DYNA series 

When this lens is used with a camera of the Konica Minolta (Minolta) series, the release function 
(misuse prevention) of the camera has to be disabled. It is only necessary to disable the release 
function, as described below, before the first use. 

Procedure for disabling the release function 
1) Switch off the camera. 
2) Remove the lens from the camera body and set the main switch of the camera to ON by pressing 
the following buttons.
