GENERAL WARNINGS
Before operating the device, please read this manual thoroughly and retain this
manual for future reference! Compliance with the instructions described here is part
of the measures for safe use of the product and is considered part of the warranty
conditions.
SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
WARNING!
Before connecting a fothermo water heater to a battery using the
fothermo battery cable the appropriate mode must be selected in the water heater
settings. Otherwise, the battery may be damaged. For the correct mode selection,
refer to the following operating instructions.
WARNING!
The electrical connection may only be performed when the water heater
is filled with water.
CONNECTION OF AN EXTERNAL POWER
SOURCE
By connecting an external power supply with the battery cable to the photovoltaic
water heater, you can supply the water heater with an external electrical power
source. The water heater can therefore be connected to:
•
a car (starter) battery
•
a stationary 12/24-Volt battery
•
the excess output of a battery management system (12/24 Volt)
OPERATING MODES OF THE WATER HEATER
Table 1 gives an overview of the water heater operating modes. The different modes
are explained in detail below. The following explains in which mode the water heater
must be operated to function safely in combination with your external power source.
WARNING!
If an unsuitable mode is selected, a connected battery can be perma-
nently damaged by deep discharge.
Mode 1: PV HOME
The first mode is defined as the default setting. The photovoltaic modules are
connected directly to the water heater, with the option of connecting an external
power supply offered by fothermo.
IMPORTANT!
This mode is NOT USED in combination with the battery cable for
external power supply (BC-03).
