G.) Repeat above steps “A ~ F” for each of the grease zerks on the
Valve body.
H.) Once lubrication is complete, the valve should be cycled 2-3 times and checked to
see if sealing has been restored.
* Note: the use of g/s to repair a leaking valve should be carefully considered by the
owner/operator of the piping system. g/s may not be a viable long-term alternative to
valve repair in some circumstances depending on how critical the service requirement may
be. For valves where bubble tight sealing is important to prevent injuries, death,
environmental hazards, or costly damage, etc. g/s should only be used as a temporary
solution, and the valve should be promptly repaired by a qualified valve repair specialist.
The lubricant / sealant must be displaced before the heavier sealant fills the sealant system.
The same calculations used for injecting valve cleaner are applicable (one (1 oz.) ounce per
inch of valve size into each seat ring plus riser pipe quantities).
