If the leak cannot be stopped by tightening the gland nuts, it is necessary to add additional 
packing rings or completely repack the valve. DO NOT repack valve under pressure.  

 

 

 

 

 

 

Over tightening will cause the packing to fail prematurely as well as increasing the 
force required to operate the valve.
