PROBABLE CAUSE
• Fueling furnace with wet or unsea-
soned wood.
• Fueling furnace with wet or unsea-
soned wood.
• Insufficient flue draft.
• Using uninsulated stove pipe for the
chimney flue.
• Improper connection in stove pipe
causing air leakage or structural defect
in the chimney itself.
SUGGESTED REMEDY
Completely avoid using if at all pos-
sible. If circumstances necessitate
the use of wet or unseasoned wood,
fuel the furnace with smaller loads.
Consequently, the fires will be hot-
ter thereby reducing the accumula-
tion of creosote.
If dry, seasoned, hardwoods are not
available fuel the furnace with
smaller loads. Consequesntly, the
resultant fires will be hotter, thereby
retarding the accumulation of creo-
sote.
SEE #6
Uninsulated pipe used as an outside
flue causes rapid cooling of the stack
gases, thereby causing them to con-
dense as creosote on the inside of the
flue.
Inspect the entire flue run - from the
exhaust stack of the furnace to the
termination cap. Replace as neces-
sary.
