6. START UP
WARNING
If the torch is not inserted in the
connector provided, the generator remains
inoperative.
The circuit will block if the pressure is set
below 3.5 bar.
When adjusting the torch, it is
recommended to turn off the generator.
The functioning of these generators is based
on the concept of supplying a constant
current equal to the value set, regardless of
the arc length.
After the torch has been connected and the
generator turned on, check that the air is
circulating in the circuit, pressing the
PURGE TEST button (10 of fig. 1).
Then set the current value via knob 1 shown
in figure 1.
TORCH SAFETY
ATTENTION: VOLTAGE ABOVE A 113 V.
TORCH IN CLASS M.
The torch supplied with the generator comes
with a safety device that prevents the user
from coming into contact with "live” parts. In
fact, the torch button can be deactivated by
unscrewing the insulated tip.
7. CUTTING PROBLEMS
1) Low penetration
This may be caused by:
- Elevated speed. Always make sure that the
arc completely breaks through the workpiece
and that it never has an angle, in the forward
direction, that is greater than 10-15°.
- The electrode must be replaced when its
crater is deeper than approximately 1.6 mm.
- The nozzle must be replaced when the
central hole is ruined or much wider than the
new detail.
- The workpiece is too thick.
- Bad electrical contact between the ground
clamp and workpiece.
2) The cutting arc turns off
This may be caused by:
- Low forward speed
- Cutting current too high in relation to the
thickness of the piece to be cut; adjust to the
thickness.
8. PRACTICAL ADVICE
Although the machine is already equipped
with an air filter that is capable of filtering
impurities with dimensions of around 5
m,
if the air of the plant contains a lot of
humidity and oil, it is best to use a dry filter
to prevent excessive oxidisation, wear of the
consumables, and damage to the torch.
Air impurities promote oxidisation of the
electrode and nozzle, making it difficult to
turn on the pilot arc.
If this condition occurs, clean the tip of the
electrode and the inside of the nozzle with
fine sandpaper.
Make sure any new electrodes and nozzles
to be mounted on the machine are clean
and degreased.
To prevent damage being done to the torch,
always use FIMER original spare parts.
9. ORDINARY MACHINE
MAINTENANCE
Every three months periodically remove dust
from the suction nozzle using compressed
air. Always direct the air from the inside towards
the outside of the machine to avoid blowing
dirt inside the equipment. When carrying out
this operation, always make sure the machine
is not connected to the power supply.
