Device description file
A device description file (EDS file) is used for project engineering of the EtherNet/IP interface in the
higher-order controller software.
It contains all the information required for parameterisation of the automation system CPX-AP-A via
control software.
The device description file is available at the Festo Support Portal
Crossover detection (auto MDI/MDI-X)
The product supports crossover detection (auto MDI/MDI-X), which means that there is the option of
using patch cables or crossover cables.
When using patch cables and crossover cables in the same network, crossover detection must be
activated in the higher-order controller. When using the “Prioritised Start-Up” (QuickConnect) function,
crossover detection (auto MDI/MDI-X) must be deactivated.
Prioritised start-up (QuickConnect)
The "Prioritised Start-Up” (QuickConnect) function ensures that the automation system CPX-AP is able
to start up quickly.
When using the Prioritised Start-Up (QuickConnect) function, crossover detection (Auto-MDI/MDI-X)
must be disabled and the transmission rate and duplex mode of the network ports and on the
higher-level controller must be set identically at the interface.
