3.4 Troubleshooting
Diagnostics
The generator is equipped with an advanced self-diagnosis system. In case of operation problems or
anomalies, the control unit of the single boiler shell activates flashing of the corresponding display (with
fault identification code) and a 230Vac output (to which a visual or acoustic signalling device can be con-
nected. See the electrical connections section).
Faults marked with the letter “A” cause permanent generator shutdown. To restore operation, press the
“R” (reset) key on the generator.
Faults marked with the letter “F” cause temporary shutdowns that are automatically reset as soon as the
value comes back within the generator’s normal working range.
The following table gives details for solving problems signalled by the generator. Interventions on the
unit must only be carried out by Qualified Personnel such as those of the FERROLI Customer Technical
Assistance Service. For interventions on the unit that involve opening the generator, always request the
assistance centre.
Burner does not light
No gas
Detection or ignition
electrode fault
Faulty gas valve
Check correct gas flow to the boiler
and that air has been eliminated
from the pipes
Check wiring of electrodes and that
they are correctly positioned and
free of any scale
Check and change gas valve
Safety thermostat tripped
Delivery sensor not active
No system circulation
Check correct positioning and
operation of delivery sensor
Check circulating pump
Fume extraction duct safety
device tripped
Flue partially blocked or
insufficient
Check efficiency of flue, fume
extraction ducts and outlet
terminal
No flame after ignition phase
Blocked air/fume ducts
Low gas supply pressure
Remove obstruction from the flue,
fume extraction ducts and air inlet
and terminals
Check gas pressure
Low system water pressure
System empty
