Maintenance Procedures
Checking Air Filter Elements
IMPORTANT:
Avoid damage! Dirt and debris can en-
ter the engine through a damaged
fi
lter element:
•
Do not wash paper element.
•
Do not attempt to clean paper element by tapping
against another object.
•
Do not use pressurized air to clean element.
•
Do not clean elements, only replace element if it
is very dirty, damaged or the seal is cracked.
Your machine is equipped with a Heavy-Duty Air
Cleaner assembly.
Check air
fi
lter elements at the intervals recommend-
ed in the
Service Intervals
section.
NOTE:
It may be necessary to check the air
fi
lter
more frequently if operating machine in dusty or ex-
treme conditions.
Refer to the engine manufacturer’s owner’s manual
provided with your machine for the complete proce-
dure.
Replacing Fuel Filter
CAUTION
Avoid injury! Fuel vapors are explosive and
fl ammable.
•
Shut off engine before servicing.
•
Cool engine before servicing.
•
Work in a well-ventilated area.
•
Do not smoke while handling fuel.
•
Keep fuel away from
fl
ames or sparks.
•
Clean up spilled fuel immediately.

1. Park machine safely.
2. Allow engine to cool.
3. Turn OFF fuel shut off valve.
4. Loosen and slide hose clamps away from fuel
fi
l-
ter.
5. Place drain pan under hoses to catch any fuel
that may be left in the hoses.
6. Disconnect hoses from fuel
fi
lter.
7. Install new fuel
fi
lter by connecting hoses to new
fuel
fi
lter. Make sure fuel
fi
lter is installed in the
proper direction.
8. Install hose clamps.
9. Turn ON fuel shut off valve.
10. Start engine and check for fuel leaks.
