7.17 Operation with the base station
7.17.1 Brief description
The VarioGuide system can be used with a reference station for centimeter accuracy. The operation of the
system is identical, irrespective of whether the correction is received from a reference station or from a
satellite. This section gives an overview of the additional steps required for reference station management.
The reference station is an integrated unit comprising a radio module, a GNSS receiver, a GNSS aerial and
a radio aerial. The reference station is mounted on a tripod. Using an internal radio aerial, the reference
station delivers correction signals to mobile units within a radius of between 3 and 5 km.
• GNSS satellites transmit position signals.
• The base station compares this data with its actual position.
• Correction signals are transmitted from the base station (transmitter) to the tractor (receiver) using a
modem.
• The VarioGuide receiver processes both signals (position signal and correction signal), so determining
very precise location data.
NOTE:
A base station with a radio modem that is suitable for the specific country should be used here. Contact
your AGCO Fendt dealer.
NOTE:
The operation of radio systems is subject to the regulations of national authorities.
NOTE:
A radio license must be applied for from the relevant network operator.
The user of the base station is responsible for making this application. Operation of a base station without
a radio license is prohibited and may lead to prosecution.
WARNING:
Operation of the VarioGuide system with the base station outside the authorized national
frequency ranges may cause serious damage to property, injury or death of persons due
to interference with other systems (e.g. radio remote-controlled building cranes, forestry
cable winches etc.)!
