8.6.2
Continuous mode
This mode is reserved for low power and alignment. It deposits a lot more power into the
crystal. As soon as a cycle is finished, another one is started: this is done during several
sampling clock periods. The external trigger is only used to re-synchronize
. See
Truncation of one waveform cannot be avoided on every trigger, unless the trigger period is an
integer multiple of
gate
du a few 100 ns.
8.6.3
Alternate mode
On
the blue vertical arrow at the frame bottom is the scope trigger point. The red
trace is
gate
. Memory A is loaded with a wide waveform with one trough and memory B has
3 peaks.
The next oscillogram on
shows when both continuous mode & alternate are selected.
The red trace shows
gate
while
hiwhenA
is shown on the green trace. This demonstrates
the alternation of A & B and that the signal
hiwhenA
can be used to synchronize external
equipment
hiwhenA
changes state on the trailing edge (at the end) of
gate
. This gives
enough time to the synchronised equipment to switch as well as removing ambiguity on the
waveform displayed. Note that
trigparity
is similar to
hiwhenA
and is always pulsing, even
when there is no change is selection A or B.

the trigger used to be required to start generation but an internal change in the firmware starts generation
when the mode is asserted, thus the trigger is only used to re-synchronize. Some customers run their Dazzler
without
any
