TROUBLESHOOTING

Symptoms   Cause       Remedy

 POWER SUPPLY

Machine not
warming up

Power cord

Fuse

Connect the machine to power outlet.

Check the fuse and change if necessary.

ADHESIVE APPLICATOR

Adhesive
not spread
evenly

Not enough hot melt in
the reservoir

Adhesive roller does
not rotate properly

Add hot melt adhesive.

Check the cable and driving wheel connected to roller.

Adhesive
applicator is
difficult to
move or
jammed

Glue not warm enough
or still solid

Mechanical block

Adhesive overcooking

Switch the machine on and the power indicator lights up
green. Let the machine warm up properly (20 min).

Inspect the adhesive reservoir visually and remove any
foreign objects.

If the machine is turned on but not used for a very long time,
adhesive will degrade and turn into a plastic like substance
blocking the roller. Contact your dealer.

BINDING

Spine shape
not
satisfactory

Paper block jogged
poorly

Short nipping time or
low compressing force

Back support and or
levelling plate not clean

Wrong nipping to

ol

Nipping tool
misalignment

Jog the paper block carefully and align it with the paper guide.

For the best results, press firmly for 5-7 seconds.

Clean the levelling plate and back support regularly. Lock the
clamp completely.

Use H-nipping tool for hard covers and S for soft covers.

A properly aligned nipping tool is parallel with the back

support

support to ensure even

compression

when the hand lever is pressed

down. Use nipping tool’s adjustment screws to eliminate any

clearance between nipping cams and nipping tool.

Binding
strength not
sufficient

Adhesive applied too
slowly

Nipping began too late
or the time was too
short

Poor adhesive quality
or low temperature

Book bound against
paper fiber direction

With the four step adhesive application method, the whole
cycle takes 4 - 6 seconds. Average time for a single back and
forth application is between 3 and 4 seconds.

Start nipping in 1 – 2 seconds after adhesive application.
The sooner the better. Proper compressing time is between
5 – 7 seconds.

Use Fastbind hot melt type 1adhesive. Normal operating
temperature for the adhesive applicator is 170 - 180 °C.

Highest binding strength results when the cover and papers
are bound along the fiber direction.
