Checking the Battery
Periodically check for any corrosion and tightening of the terminals and
any acid top-ups required in the battery (if a lead/acid type).
Check the cage and the entrance doors
Correct blocking of the cage and entrance doors operating correctly.
Check the controls present in the cage and on the ground
(if
applicable)
Controls secured, legible signs, main power supply selection switch
operable, emergency stop switch in a reset position and legible control
signs;
Check lubrication and wear of the lifting chains
When restoring lubrication, make sure the chains are not dirty or soiled
with mud, rubble, ice or other foreign matter. Clean the chains thoroughly
before lubricating them.
The lifting chains must be lubricated with the extendable structure
completely closed, by gravity, from the top, directly on the return wheels
(if necessary, temporarily remove the protective cover to access the
chains). For information regarding the wear of chains, refer to “Checks on
the lifting chains”.
Check the wheels for wear
Check there is no debris on the wheels or around them. Check for wear
or damage to the tread. The wheels must be replaced if the edges are
worn or the profiles are deformed. If the wheels have significant damage
on tread or sides, immediately assess the severity of the damage before
operating the machine again.
