The electric plane is an indispensable and easy-to-use tool (compared

to a hand plane) for the transformation of rough timber. It enables you

to flatten a wooden surface or to slightly modify the dimensions of a

piece of wood. Very useful for finishing, rectifying the height of a door,

making clean wooden brackets from rough timber.

Ensure that the piece of wood does not contain any metal (nails, screws, etc.)
Always ensure that the piece you are working with is properly fixed so that it does not

vibrate.planing.
Trace a line on the wood where you want to finish, so that you know when to stop

planing.

Start the machine up before you move onto the piece you are working on
Keep the soleplate in full contact with the piece you are working on
The tool must move forward as smoothly as possible
It is better to hook your machine up to a vacuum cleaner in order to collect as much

dust as possible
Some planes can make grooves of various heights, depending on the planes. These

little notches enable you to fit a pane of glass into a wooden frame.

A plane does not require the cutting height to be adjusted. The harder the wood is, the

more the stroke (the amount planed off each time the machine moves over the wood)

has to be reduced. The machine must be run over the surface several times in order to

reach the required result.

The soleplate of the plane may contain a groove for chamfering, in order to break the

square edge of the wood. To do this, place the groove over the edge of the piece and

hold the plane at 45°.
