X-Axis: Lateral Work Zone (m)
Using Chart 1 to Find Additional Fall Clearance: Overhead, Non-Leading Edge
0.6 m (2 ft) increments along the X-Axis represent the
distance the user is working away from being directly
under the SRD
1.5 m (5 ft) increments up the Y-Axis represent the SRD
Anchorage height above the user’s Dorsal D-Ring
To find the additional Fall Clearance needed to compensate for potential Swing Fall, note the starting location on
Chart 1 titled Dorsal D-Ring
Example:
If the user needs to work 5.5 m (18 ft) away from directly under the SRD, the SRD needs to be anchored at least
10.7 m (35 ft) above the user’s Dorsal D-Ring therefore, 1.2 m (4 ft) of additional clearance should be added to the
Sub-Total calculation in Figure 3.
Example:
If the only suitable overhead Anchorage for the SRD is 15.2 m (50 ft) above the user’s Dorsal D-Ring, the maximum
allowable work zone is 6.1 m (20 ft) away from directly overhead therefore, 0.6 m (4 ft) of additional fall clearance
should be added to the Sub-Total calculation in Figure 3.
