deep discharge. In a state of deep discharge a rechargeable battery has lost
so much of its energy that its materials have decomposed. In such a case,
it is no longer possible to recharge it, it may even be dangerous to do so.
You should therefore recharge your vehicles every six months, and every
twelve months at the latest, even if you did not use them.
Memory effect (of NiMH rechargeable batteries)
Whenever a rechargeable battery is charged without being completely
discharged, it “remembers” that state. The rechargeable battery will thus
lose a considerable part of its capacity with time and the period lasting up
to the required recharging procedure decreases.
Thus, always make sure to discharge the vehicles completely before char-
ging them again. Whenever a vehicle grows noticeably slower, remove that
vehicle from the installation. Fully discharge the vehicle by turning it upside
down and leaving it switched on until its wheels come to a standstill. Then
charge the vehicle again completely, otherwise there is the risk of deep
discharge that would destroy the rechargeable battery.
The same applies to the charging of the vehicle. Never interrupt the char-
ging procedure prior to its end. The Processor-controlled charging unit always
monitors the charging procedure and automatically stops it when the rechar-
geable battery is fully charged.
