Electrical AC monitoring
AC Volts
This gauge displays the connected AC voltage level
.
AC Amps
This gauge displays the current load being drawn from the AC shore power. If the AC Amps demand is
above the rating of the marina circuit breaker or boat shore-line circuit breaker, the circuit breaker will
trip. This load must be monitored and managed by switching off systems that are not required.
Electrical DC monitoring
DC Volts
This ga
uge displays the “Domestic Battery” voltage. (The 24V engine batteries can be checked using
the engine system displays.) The Domestic Battery voltage should be kept above 12 Volts. Under
normal usage, all batteries will be kept sufficiently by the
boat’s charging systems. The engine
alternators automatically charge the engine batteries; an additional alternator on the port engine
charges the Domestic Battery. There is also a “Mains-Power Charger” for each battery bank which
runs either off Shore Power or the Generator. If the Domestic Battery voltage should drop below 12
Volts, ensure charging commences without delay in order to prolong battery life. The Domestic Battery
“Low Voltage” warning light will illuminate when voltage drops below 11.7 Volts, and extinguish at 12.4
Volts.
Charge Amps
This gauge displays the battery charger output to all batteries. This reading will typically vary from 20
amps under light load, up to 80amps under heavy load. If this reading drops to zero, the charging
system should be checked.
