Replacing AC Power Supplies
Platform Guide: 6900 and 8900
7 - 1
About the AC power supply
The 6900/8900 platform contains, by default, a total of two hot swappable
AC power supplies. The platform supports power redundancy, which
ensures that the system is unaffected if a single power supply fails.
WARNING
Running without both power supplies installed in the platform can affect
cooling and electromagnetic interference (EMI). If you need to run the unit
with only one power supply, you must install a blank supply bracket into the
other power supply slot. The blank supply bracket is required to maintain
proper airflow in the system. If you do not have a blank supply bracket,
leave both supplies installed and unplug the unused power supply.
WARNING
This product is sensitive to electrostatic discharge (ESD). We recommend
that when you install or maintain the unit, you use proper ESD grounding
procedures and equipment.
Note
Depending on the model and revision type of the power supply, you may
need either a Phillips or a flathead screwdriver to complete these
procedures.
