Installing the 6900/8900 Platform

Installing the unit using a front-mounting kit

When you received your 6900/8900 platform, the unit included 
front-mounting brackets, suited for front mounting the unit. With 
front-mounting brackets, the unit is bolted directly to the rack. A shelf or 
similar device is required to support the unit if a single person is installing 
the unit. To prevent personal injury or damage to the unit, we recommend 
that at least two people perform the installation.

To install the front-mounting kit and install the unit into the rack, you need 
to perform the following tasks:

• Attach the front-mounting brackets to the unit, following.

• Install the unit into a rack, on page 2-3.

• Connect cables and other hardware, on page 2-10.

To attach the front-mounting brackets to the unit

1. Align the keyhole slots on the bracket to the pins on the side of the 

unit.

2. Slide the bracket toward the front of the unit to lock the bracket into 

place, as shown in Figure 2.1.

3. Secure the bracket to the unit using the four flat head screws that are 

provided.

1. Ensure that the front-mounting brackets are installed onto each side 

of the unit.

2. Lift the unit into place in the rack.
