y
For example, for chipping away tiles, use the flat chisel,
for making holes, for removing grouting material, for
making grooves, etc. use the pointed chisel, for making
cable troughs use a hollow chisel (not included), etc.
y
For drilling, the appropriate drill bit must be selec-
ted based on the drilled material. For drilling into
metals and hard plastics, use drill bits from high-
-speed steel (HSS).
The SDS plus and SDS max tool clamping head is
universal and it is possible to mount chisels of other
manufacturers into these hammer drills.
2. Thoroughly clean the SDS shank of the tool, dry it if nece-
ssary and lubricate sufficiently using Vaseline, see Fig.6.
y
A shank with a layer of building dust, stones, etc.
damages the SDS tool clamp.

3. Check whether the hole and the area around the tool
shank and the dust cover are damaged (Fig. 1, position 1).
4. When performing chiselling or
Fig. 7
drilling work in a top vertical positi-
on, e.g. into a ceiling, it is necessary
to slide on the auxiliary anti-dust
cover on to the shank of the respecti-
ve work tool (Fig. 2, position 11 and
Fig. 7) and to also protect the motor
vents through which the falling
debris could enter into the motor.
y
The anti-dust cover prevents
construction dust and stones
from entering into the SDS
clamping system of the head
and prevents its damage while
performing drilling/chiselling tasks.
5.
a)
Pull down the SDS clamping head.
b) Apply pressure on to the work tool with an SDS
shank to push it into the head and turn it until the
work tool slides into the grooves of the SDS clam-
ping head.
c) Slide the work tool all the way into the head and then
release the head.
d) Pull on the work tool to check that it is firmly clam-
ped in the clamping mechanism.

•
ATTENTION
y
The clamping head with the SDS clamping shank for
clamping drill bits with a smaller diameter can only
be used in the IMPACTLESS drilling mode, since the
strong percussion of the hammer drill would damage
the chuck head. Thus, it is not possible to install it on
hammer drills that do not have the impactless drilling
function!
CHECKING THE AMOUNT OF LUBRICANT
IN THE GEARBOX
y
Prior to starting the hammer drill, check the amount of
lubricant (Vaseline) in the gearbox.
•
ATTENTION
y
An insufficient amount of lubricant in the gearbox will
result in its damage. Ensure that no small stones, con-
struction dust and other particles that would damage it
enter into the gearbox,
1. Using the two-pin key, screw off the cover for the
application of lubricant into the gearbox (Fig. 9) and
check the amount of lubricant in the gearbox).
IV. Before putting
into operation
•
ATTENTION
y
Read the entire user‘s manual before using the power
tool. Keep the user‘s manual with the product so that
its user may become acquainted with it at any time.
If you lend the power tool to somebody, include this
user‘s manual with it. Prevent this user‘s manual from
being damaged or destroyed.
y
Before carrying out any settings, adjustments, mainte-
nance of the hammer, replacing/inserting a tool, disco-
nnect the power cord from the power socket.
•
WARNING
y
Carefully read the entire user‘s manual before first
use and keep it with the product so that the user can
become acquainted with it. If you lend or sell the
product to somebody, include this user‘s manual with
it. Prevent this user‘s manual from being damaged.
The manufacturer takes no responsibility for damages
or injuries arising from use that is in contradiction to
this user‘s manual. Before using the tool, first acquaint
yourself with all the control elements and parts as
well as how to turn it off immediately in the event of
a dangerous situation arising. Before using, first check
that all parts are firmly attached and check that no part
of the tool, such as for example safety protective ele-
ments, is damaged or incorrectly installed, or missing.
Do not use a tool with damaged or missing parts and
have it repaired or replaced at an authorised service
centre for the Extol® brand - see chapter Servicing and
maintenance, or the website address at the introduc-
tion to this user‘s manual.
INSTALLING THE AUXILIARY
HANDLE/DEPTH LIMIT STOP
•
ATTENTION
y
Never use the hammer drill without the auxiliary handle
installed. Loss of control over the tool may cause injuries.
1. Turn the handle to loosen the collar and seat it into the
grooves on the neck of the hammer drill (see Fig. 3).
y
Prior to securing it in place, turn the handle to such
a position that the hammer drill is held firmly, safe-
ly and comfortably during work, see Fig. 4.
Fig. 3
Fig. 4
y
In order to measure out the depth of the drilled hole,
it is possible to insert the depth limit stop (Fig. 5) (only
on models equipped with one) into the hole located on
the handle and to thereby set the required drill depth.
The distance between the end of the depth limit
stop and the end of the drill bit defines the depth of
the hole, see Fig. 5.
Fig. 5
h
2. Properly secure the handle in the required position by
turning it as shown in Fig. 3. Securing the handle in
place will also secure the depth limit stop.
INSERTING/REMOVING THE WORK TOOL.
1. Select an appropriate work tool for the given activity.
It is necessary to select the correct work tool for
the given type of performed activity since this
determines the result and effectiveness of work.
