Chapter 1. Introduction
1.1
Purpose of Manual
This manual provides the basic instructions on the operation of the Exacom Model: Ears Digital Voice
Recorders Series. It is designed to be a comprehensive guide f or installation and maintenance personnel
covering installation procedures, maintenance steps and other technical matters. In addition, it provides
detailed inf ormation on the f eatures and operation of the Ears.
1.2
Regulatory Information (FCC)
This device complies with Part 15 of the FCC Rules. Operation is subject to the f ollowing two conditions:
(1) this device may not cause harmf ul interf erence, and (2) this device must accept any interf erence
received including interf erence that may cause undesired operation.

TELCO Warning
This device was not designed to and is not compliant f or direct interconnection with the telephone
network. Connecting it to the telephone network could result in damage to the device and could cause
harm or interruption to the telephone network. Exacom accepts no responsibility f or damages incurred
f rom misuse and customers attaching the device to the telephone network do so at their own risk.
