Hazards

Dusts  of  various  metals  (Mg,  Zr,  Ti,  Al,
Cr, Mn) are ignitable and explosive when
suspended in carbon dioxide.
In  concentrations  up  to  1%  (10 000
ppm),  it  will  make  some  people  feel
drowsy  and  give  the  lungs  a  stuffy
feeling.  Concentrations  of  7%  to  10%
(70 000  to  100 000  ppm)  may  cause
suffocation,  even  in  the  presence  of
sufficient

oxygen,

manifesting

as

dizziness, headache, visual and hearing
dysfunction, and unconsciousness within
a few minutes to an hour.

Exposure

Installation guidelines

(See Installation and connections section for general information.)
Since CO

2

is heavier than air, it is recommended to locate the sensor not higher, than

the potential leakage. For air quality control place the sensor in the breathing zone.

Calibration

E2648  series  devices  have  been  calibrated  by  Manufacturer  with  standard  gas
mixtures  before  delivery.  Provided  that  the  sensor  is  used  under  moderate
conditions, field recalibration is recommended every  5 years. Please contact your
dealer for more information.

Emergency mode

The  current  outputs  of  the  E2648-CO2  may  be  programmed  via  Modbus
commands  (register  255)  to  signal  if  the  connection  with  the  sensor  is  lost.  The
signal may be set to 3.8 mA or 21.5 mA. See Annex 1 for more information.
