Start-up (with no voltage on the main lines)
– cold start
Once the UPS unit is correctly connected, start the unit by following these steps in
sequence:
1.
Make sure the UPS unit’s input and output protections are OFF. If not, switch
them to OFF.
2. Switch the DC protection (of the internal batteries and the battery module) to ON.
3. Press the cold start key.
4. Switch the UPS unit's output protections to ON
5. After 60 seconds, the UPS starts operating in backup mode.
6. Switch the UPS u
nit’s output and input protections (the basic line and the bypass
lines) to ON. The inverter starts supplying the energy stored in the batteries to the
output. When the mains voltage is back, the UPS switches to mains mode,
without interrupting the power supplied to its output.
Switching from MAINS mode to BYPASS mode (service bypass)
The UPS features a manual BYPASS line switch for directly switching the BYPASS
line to the unit's output terminals, bypassing the UPS unit's blocks.
The following steps must be done to switch a UPS operating in MAINS (normal)
mode to service BYPASS mode:
1. Switch the UPS from MAINS mode to BYPASS mode in the user interface
(Operate sub-menu -> Switch to bypass).
2. Unscrew the protective cap of the bypass line protections (MAINTENANCE) in
the UPS unit's rear panel.
3. Switch the MAINTENANCE SWITCH to ON.
4. Switch the DC protection (BATTERY) to OFF.
5. Switch the basic input line protection (INPUT) to OFF.
6. Switch the bypass input line protection (BYPASS) to OFF.
7. Switch the output line protection (OUTPUT) to OFF.
CAUTION!
The terminals may still be live, even after the UPS is shut
down. Wait 10 minutes for the bus to discharge, before removing the
cover.
