NOTES ON BATTERIES AND RECHARGEABLE
BATTERIES

-

Batteries/rechargeable batteries do not belong in the hands of children.

-

Do not leave batteries/rechargeable batteries lying around; there is a risk that

they could be swallowed by children or pets. If swallowed, consult a doctor

into a fi re. There is a risk of explosion!

-

Do not recharge normal, non-rechargeable batteries; risk of explosion! Only

INSERTING/REPLACING BATTERIES

Remove the battery compartment cover on the back of the radio wall clock; it is only
clipped in. Insert one AA/Mignon battery with correct polarity.

In order to ensure enduring and secure operation you should use a high-quality
alkaline battery.



A rechargeable battery may be used, but due to the lower voltage output
(rechargeable battery = 1.2V, standard battery = 1.5V) and the lower capac-
ity, the service life is signifi cantly shorter, so a more frequent exchange of
rechargeable batteries is necessary.

If you do wish to use a rechargeable battery, we recommend you use a NiMH
battery with low self-discharge.

Immediately after the battery is inserted into the clock, all three hands move to
the 12 o’clock position. Afterwards the radio wall clock attempts to receive the DCF
signal (see chapter “DCF reception”). Close the battery compartment when the time
and date are correctly displayed (or after you have manually set the time/date).

Replacing the battery is required if sudden large time differences occur, if the hands
of the radio wall clock are standing still or if the display contrast of the digital display
decreases sharply.

If you do not intend to use the radio wall clock for a long period (e.g. when storing
it), remove the inserted battery. If the battery grows old, it can leak and damage the
battery compartment of the radio wall clock; this will make the guarantee/warranty
void!

DCF RECEPTION

Immediately after the battery is inserted, the device makes the fi rst attempt to re-
ceive the DCF signal. All three hands of the clock run to a specifi c position (12:00)
and automatically set themselves to the current time after successfully receiving
the DCF signal.



The recognition and interpretation of the DCF signal can take 3 - 10 minutes.
Do not move the radio wall clock during that time. Do not press any buttons!

 

Bad reception can be caused, for example, by metalised insulated glass, rein-
forced concrete buildings, coated special wallpapers, proximity to electronic
devices, or installation in cellars.

If the hands have not run to the current time after 10 minutes, change the position
of the radio wall clock and press the “RESET” button (2) for 3 seconds (alternatively,
remove the battery from the battery compartment for a few seconds).

This will start a new reception attempt.

As an alternative, both the analogue clock and the digital date and day display can
be set manually. See the next chapter on this point.
