If you are using
scp
, you may open a command window on the remote computer and securely trans-
fer the root file system image from the remote computer to your Meridian II. A command like this
should be used:
scp –p 6010-0067-000_3.00.gz [email protected]:/tmp/rootfs.gz
Now issue the following command to the Meridian II console to initiate the upload:
upgraderootfs
Next, update the default file system partition by issuing this command to your Meridian II console:
updaterootflag 1
You should see this line displayed:
Default Root File System now set to: UPGRADE
Finally, reboot the system by issuing this command at the shell prompt:
reboot
Wait about 90 seconds for the system to shutdown and reboot. Then log in to the Meridian II using
telnet
or
ssh
. If all has gone well, you should be able to log in the usual way. After you have
entered your password, the system version message will be displayed. You should notice that it now
indicates the software version and date of the upgrade that you previously downloaded. You can also
check this at any time by issuing
sysversion
which will cause the system version message to be re-displayed.
You can also check to see which root file system image the system is currently booted under by issu-
ing this command at the shell prompt:
sysrootfs
Which should cause this to be printed to the console:
BOOTED ROOT FILE SYSTEM IMAGE = 1 (Upgrade)
If so, and your unit seems to be operating normally, you have successfully completed the root file
system upgrade. If your unit does not boot up successfully, and you are not able to
telnet
or
ssh
into the system after 90 seconds, then there has been some kind of problem with the root file system
upgrade. It is possible that the file downloaded was corrupt or that you forgot to set your FTP down-
load file mode to binary when downloading the file--either from the EndRun Technologies website or
when transferring it to the Meridian II.
