Example: pressure measurement in a hazardous area
• The PMP71B passive 2-wire sensor supplies a current signal proportional to the pressure
to the active input of the RN42 active barrier
• The RN42 active barrier supplies an active current output signal proportional to the
input signal to a passive input of the evaluation unit

Please note: the devices have an active and passive current input to which a 2-wire or 4-
wire transmitter can be directly connected. The output of the device can be operated
actively or passively. The current signal is then available to the PLC / controller or to other
instrumentation.

• The Promag P300 active 4-wire sensor supplies a current signal proportional to the flow
to the passive input of the RN42 active barrier
• The RN42 active barrier supplies a passive current output signal proportional to the
