INStaLLatION aND OPERatION
Responsibility for using and operating the pressure regulator and accessories lies with the
user or operator.
4.1 transport and packaging
The TESCOM EUROPE WegaMed Compact may only be transported (e.g. delivery to
the manufacturer) and stored in suitable, sturdy packaging (e.g. the original packaging).
During transport and storage the inlet and outlet connectors must be covered with suitable
protective caps.
4.2 Connection to a compressed gas cylinder
The use of dust-free, dry medical gases is essential if the TESCOM EUROPE WegaMed
Compact is to function as intended.
Damaged or soiled appliances or gas cylinders must never be used. A check
must be carried out to ensure that there is no evidence of damage or soiling on
the connections on the gas cylinder and the WegaMed Compact. Damaged
gaskets must be replaced. New gaskets can be purchased from TESCOM
EUROPE or an authorised specialist dealer.
1. You must wash your hands thoroughly before commencing any work involving the
oxygen supply. Hydrocarbon compounds (e.g. oils, greases, rubbing alcohols, hand
creams or adhesive plaster) can cause explosive reactions if they come into contact
with highly compressed gases.
2. Using the technical specifications on the type plate and in these instructions for use,
check whether the pressure regulator in your possession is suitable for the intended
purpose (type of gas, pressure, flow). The maximum permissible inlet pressure of the
pressure regulator must be greater than or equal to the cylinder’s filling pressure. Read
the information provided by the supplier of the compressed gases carefully. Medical
gases are a medicinal product and as such may only be used in accordance with
instructions issued by the doctor responsible for the care of the patient in question.
3. The pressure regulator must undergo a performance test before every cylinder
change. Should faults be detected during the performance test, the pressure
regulator must be taken out of service. Contact TESCOM EUROPE or an
authorised specialist dealer to have the fault rectified.
A complete performance test includes:
• A visual inspection for mechanical damage
• Checking the system for leaks (Chapter 5.2.1)
• Checking the pressure relief valve for leaks (Chapter 5.2.2)
