1.1 Safety information
• Please read and observe the following information before using or performing
maintenance on the TESCOM EUROPE WegaMed Compact.
• The WegaMed Compact may only be used for its intended purpose as described in
these instructions for use (see Chapter 2.1 "Intended purpose").
• These instructions for use are integral to the cylinder pressure regulator and must be
available to the user at all times.
• You must understand how the cylinder pressure regulator works before commencing
operation with it.
• Never use an appliance if it is leaking or faulty!
• Operation of the WegaMed Compact enriches and where appropriate controls the
corresponding gas in the patient environment. The WegaMed Compact may therefore
only be used in accordance with a doctor's instructions.
• Medical gases are a medicinal product and as such may only be used in accordance
with instructions issued by the doctor responsible for the care of the patient in
question.
• Before commissioning the WegaMed Compact, it is absolutely vital to check that the
gas type, the gas volume flow range and the connection are correct and that any
upstream or downstream equipment has been fitted securely.
• Not suitable as a drive for surgical equipment.
• Not suitable for operation in the range of strong magnetic fields, e.g. magnetic
resonance imaging.
• Only accessories bearing the CE mark that are compatible with the WegaMed
Compact both in terms of intended use and connection may be used (see Chapter 6
“Combination with downstream equipment”). The use of third-party products can lead
to functional failures and a lack of biocompatibility. Please note that in such cases
any and all warranty and liability claims will be invalidated, if neither the accessories
recommended in the instructions for use nor original spare parts have been used.
• To avoid misunderstandings, never leave the appliance unattended or connected to
downstream equipment when it is not in use.
• Never try to open the appliance since this could result in the release of spring-loaded
parts which might cause injury.
