NOTE: If your fan already has a short downrod
attached, follow steps 2 and 3. If no downrod is
presently attached, skip to step 4.

2. Remove the hanger ball as follows: Loosen the

setscrew in the hanger ball, slide the ball down the
downrod, and remove the pin and retain for later
use. (Figure 3.) Then slide the hanger ball off the
downrod. Discard this hanger ball. (Only use the
hanger ball supplied with this kit.)

3. Remove the downrod from the motor coupling as

follows: loosen setscrew in motor coupling using
the 5/32” setscrew wrench supplied with fan.
Remove the hairpin clip from the end of the clevis
pin. Remove the clevis pin, then slide the downrod
from motor coupling (Figure 4). Retain all pins and
setscrew for later use.

4. Select the correct length of downrod. Refer to Page

2 for selection chart.

5. Separate, untwist and unkink the motor leads.

Route the motor leads through the downrod and
seat the downrod into the motor coupling (Figure
6).

6. Align the clevis pin holes in the downrod with the

holes in the motor coupling and install the clevis pin
(supplied with fan, or removed in step 3). (Figure
6.) The clevis pin must go through the holes in the
motor coupling and the holes in the downrod, and
must be secured with the hairpin clip (supplied with
fan, or removed in step 3). Push the straight leg of
the hairpin clip through the hole in the clevis pin
until the curved portion of the hairpin clip snaps
around the clevis pin. The hairpin clip must be
properly installed to prevent the clevis pin from
working loose. Pull on the downrod to make sure
the clevis pin is properly installed (Figure 6).

7. Tighten the setscrew in the motor coupling using

the 5/32” setscrew wrench supplied with the fan
(Figure 6).

It is critical that the clevis pin in the motor
coupling is properly installed and the setscrew
securely tightened. Failure to verify that the pin
and setscrew are properly installed could result
in the fan falling.

Be sure the fan blade tips are at least seven
feet from the floor and at least six inches from
the wall and ceiling to avoid risk of personal
injury and hampering fan efficiency (Figure 5).
