5. Adjustment/fitting
Adjusting/fitting the foot drop strut to the patient must be carried out by a qualified health-
care professional or orthopaedic technician.
Adjustment to the lower leg
Padding and straps must be adjusted to fit the lower leg so
that the patient is comfortable. Replacement of padding
and straps must be carried out by a qualified healthcare
professional or orthopaedic technician. If the user feels any
discomfort or chaffing, further padding can be fitted in order
to achieve maximum comfort. The inside of the bracket can
also be padded to relieve pressure on the lateral malleoli, or
alternatively the Wide model can be used.
Adjustment to the shoe
The footplate must be adapted to the size of shoe, so that the
strut can be easily inserted into the shoe. Always adjust the size
of the front part of the foot blade. Sandals or clogs should be
avoided as these do not sit sufficiently firmly on the foot and
therefore cannot secure the position of the strut in relation to
the foot. The strut can be advantageously placed under any lose
insole.

Guidelines for the patient/user
•
Always choose a shoe that sits well on the foot.
•
If the shoe has a loose insole or if you have an additional insole, it is a good idea to place
the strut under the insole.
•
Use a shoe with a suitable heel (1-2.5 cm).
•
Try to move your foot/leg back and forth without lifting your knee more than normal (as
you may have done before you had your foot drop brace.
•
Try wearing a longer sock that goes high up the lower leg.
