To Remove & Replace Mould Heater
1.
Remove the front cover.
2.
Remove the ice stripper.
3.
Remove the three screws that attach the mounting plate to the support housing.
4.
Remove the two screws that attach the mould to the support housing.
5.
Disconnect the mould heater wire leads.
6.
Separate the mould from the support housing.
7.
Disengage the signal arm.
8.
Using a flat bladed screwdriver, pry the inoperative heater from the mould groove.
9.
Clean the remaining thermal mastic sealer from the mould groove.
10.
Apply a layer of thermal mastic sealer in the mould groove.
11.
Install the replacement mould heater. Thread the four screws supplied with the replacement heater
into the holes provided in the mould, securing the heater in place.

DIAGNOSING
Complaint – Ice Maker Fails To Start
Cause-
1.
ON/OFF switch in the OFF position.
2.
Open circuit in the wiring or the components – check the terminals from the cabinet wiring to the
ice maker.
3.
Check the operation of the ice maker with a test service cord.
4.
Check the mould temperature at the mounting screw. If its above -9.4ºC, the freezer air
temperature is not cold enough to switch the ice maker thermostat to the closed position. If the
mould is below -13ºC, manually start the ice maker by rotating the timing gear. If the motor fails
to start, check the motor for continuity. If the motor starts, the thermostat, the shut-off switch, or
the holding switch is inoperative.
5.
Check the holding switch first. With the injector blades in the starting position, check the
terminals “C” and “NC” for continuity. Replace the switch if open. Check the shut-off switch
linkage. Then check the terminals “NO” to “C” for continuity with the signal arm in the lowest
position. Replace the switch if open. If the holding switch and the shut-off switch are operative,
then replace the thermostat.
Complaint – Ice Maker Fails To Complete the Cycle
Cause-
1.
With the ejector blades at the 10 o’clock position, and the holding switch plunger depressed,
check the terminals “C” and “NO” for continuity. Replace the switch if open.
2.
With the ejector blades at the 12 o’clock position, check the shut-off switch terminals “C” and
“NC” for continuity. Replace the switch if open.
3.
With the blades at the 4 o’clock position, check the mould heater and the ice maker thermostat for
continuity. Replace the heater if open. If the heater shows continuity, replace the thermostat.
4.
Check the motor operation with the test cord. Replace the motor if it fails to start.
