Euro-500T Handy
2.3.3 Displays
The Euro-500T Handy
has two display units. One is for the customer, the other for the cashier. Both displays can be segment
LCD type, or the display for cashier is alphanumeric LCD type and the display for customer is segment LCD type.
Alphanumeric display
The operations on the display are administered by the 87LPC762 micro-controller, used only for this purpose, which accepts data sent
from the E-500N main micro-controller through a serial link (SEL, CLK, and DATA signals). This processor is situated on the detached
printed circuit board (PCB) under the module of the alphanumeric display. The description of the control signals for the display can be
found in the chapter 2.1.1, Table 1.
The two-line alphanumeric display of LCD-type is installed with a back-light. Up to 20 characters can be displayed per line. The
display works as a separate printed circuit board with its own display, display back-light and its controller.
The choice to use the back-light for both displays is made on the keyboard (in X mode by pressing the [MULTIPLY] button).
The choice of a particular back-light mode depends on the version of the cash register. The back-light of the alphanumeric
display is powered by max. 150 mA; the back-light on the segmented display by 200 mA.
LCD display
It is the LCD-type display with 96 segments. A switching function of COM1 and COM2 signals enables the regulation of the cash
register display. Each display is controlled by its own NJU6432B-type controller.
If requested, it is possible to supply the particular display units with back-light panels (D1) which are controlled by the display
controller (SEG49, SEG50). On/off switching is operated from the keyboard (in X mode by pressing the [MULTI] button). The
maximum power for one back-light panel equals 250 mA.
87LPC762 micro-controller
The Euro-500T Handy cash register uses a 87LPC762 8-bit micro-controller, which provides for complete control over the LCD displays.
