Audio Output Type
i.
Define what type of audio connection this zone will have. HDMI, Coax digital and
Analog are valid choices.
1.
HDMI – used when the display or AVR is the sound source for the zone
2.
Coax – used when connected to a digital amplifier or AVR
3.
Analog – do we really need to explain?
ii.
The next setting, Analog to Digital, has a profound effect on HDMI audio. If you
choose to route analog to the HDMI output then ALL audio signals routed to the
HDMI output will be 2 channel. HDMI sources that do not have a 2 channel audio
path will may not be routed to the output in this case. Therefore, when you need
multi-channel digital sources mixed with analog 2 channel sources you must
configure the zone for both an HDMI output (for your multi-channel content) and
either an analog or coaxial digital output.

Analog to Digital
i.
If HDMI or Coax is selected as the Audio Output Type then you must indicate
whether analog sources will be routed to digital outputs. Does this installation
require analog sources to be routed to a digital output? If so select “Yes”, if not
then “No”.
ii.
“Yes” sets up an output “mirror” where the digital output is connected to an analog
output so that we may use the analog outputs DSP and analog to digital converter
circuit. Once the mirror connection is made, all analog and digital audio signals from
sources are routed through the DSP. Multi-channel content will no longer pass to
the analog/digital mirror outputs.
iii.
“No” will not allow analog only sources to be heard in digital output zones.

Audio Output
i.
Analog – select an analog output
ii.
Coax – select a Coax + Analog mirror. There are mirrors for all analog outputs on the
gMV64 and gMV88. The gMV1616 has mirrors for the first 16 analog outputs only.
iii.
HDMI – select an HDMI + Analog mirror. Selections here are limited as HDMI 1 may
only be mirrored to Analog 1 (and so on). If you utilize the analog outputs for other
zones you may not have a mirror to select. When this happens you will have re-
configure an analog zone to free a mirror.
