None means that no username/password authentication is required (not
recommended).

Authentication Database: The authentication database is used to verify the
username and password received from the dial-in client.·

Local means the PPTP user accounts created on the Shiva VPN
Gateway. You will need to created user accounts as described below.
This can be used with any authentication scheme.·

RADIUS means an external RADIUS server. You will be prompted to
enter the server IP address and password. This can be used with any
authentication scheme, provided that the RADIUS server also supports
it.·

means an external server. You will be prompted to
enter the server IP address and password. This can only be used with
the PAP authentication scheme.
3. Click
Continue.
4. Configure user account settings. PPTP Accounts are distinct from those added
through
Users
on the
System
menu and those added through
L2TP Server
and
Dial-in Access
. It is possible, however, to create any of these three accounts
sharing the one username and password combination. This may be easier than
remembering two or three separate usernames and/or passwords.
For security reasons, it is recommended that you do not use your ISP username
and password for these accounts.
•
Username: Username for VPN authentication only. The name selected is
case-sensitive (e.g. Jimsmith is different to jimsmith). Username can be the
same as, or different to, the name set for dial-in access.
•
Windows Domain: Most Windows clients expect you to specify a domain name in
upper case. This field is optional.
•
Password: Enter the password for the remote VPN user.
As new VPN user accounts are added, they are displayed on the updated
Account List
.
