2.6 Mode of radiocesium surface activity measurement
Measurement of surface activity is appropriate only when there is
evidence that the radioactive cesium is right on the surface and has not
penetrated into the soil deeper than for 5 cm. If this is not achieved, we should
understand that the result serves as an estimate. This is not a fault of the device,
but these are the states of the measurement object, when the term "surface
activity" becomes invalid.
The mode of radioactive cesium surface activity measurement can be
accessed by tapping the “TEST” button in the mode of gamma dose rate
measurement (see Fig. 2.4). This opens the window shown in Figure 2.34.
