TROUBLESHOOTING
Observation
Action
Sample will not
draw into Settling
Cylinder

Check the air line isolator is open (part of the filter/regulator
unit).
-
Check air pressure on regulator. Air pressure should be regulated
to 6 bar. If there is insufficient air pressure, the vacuum may not
be strong enough to draw the sample.

Check airline push-fit connections are firmly screwed into top
cap of Settling Cylinder.

Check air hoses are completely pushed into push-fit connections.
-
Check Settling Cylinder for air leaks. Ensure top union and
instrument unions are tight. Check that union O-rings are
installed.

Check turbidity instrument connection is airtight. Apply thread
tape to instrument and re-install if connection feels loose.

Check sample line camlock is connected firmly and square.
-
Check camlock female connection O-ring. If O-ring is worn or
missing, replace.

Listen for air leaks
Sample level will
not hold in cylinder

Excluding the Settling Cylinder top union, air leaks will be evident
with air bubbles in the cylinder.
-
Check Settling Cylinder for air leaks. Ensure top union and
instrument unions are tight. Check that union O-rings are
installed.

Check turbidity instrument connection is airtight. Apply thread
tape to instrument and re-install if connection feels loose.

Check sample line camlock is connected firmly and square.

Check camlock female connection O-ring. If O-ring is worn or
missing, replace.
Settle timer does
not record

Flocculant not available to system
–
pump failure, Flocculant
makeup issues, line blockage. Check Flocculant system operation,
dosing pump operation and test flocculant solution samples.

Turbidity instrument fouled. Remove instrument and clean.
