Quick Start Settings for Floc control
Test

Put system into

mode and note
the turbidity value when the sample is
first drawn. Record the value.
Temporarily set the
Settling
Time Setpoint
to be 90s &
Settled Turbidity Setpoint
to
be 5mg/l (See Section 6.2)
Initial Turbidity
Turn on the backlight and look for the
interface between settled bed and
supernatant. If the interface cannot be
identified, then run the Flocculant Pump
in
‘
M
ANUAL’
mode.
(Similarly, it may be necessary to
temporarily run the Coagulant Pump in
‘MANUAL’
mode.)
When the sample is settling,
confirm that the turbidity
reading begins to fall.
When the sample interface passes the
turbidity probe make a note of the
turbidity value.
Set this as the Settled
Turbidity Setpoint (Section
6.2)

The Flocculant Pump can be returned to
‘
AUTO
’
mode
The Floc pump can be
returned to AUTO mode.
Set the
Settling Time
Setpoint
to be 50s (See
Section 6.2)
During each cycle of the sequence, the
STORM unit will draw a sample and
measure the time it takes for the
solids/liquid interface to pass the optical
sensor

The STORM will increase the
Flocculant Pump speed if the
sample settles too slow.
The STORM will decrease the
Flocculant Pump speed if the
sample settles too quickly.
Monitor the Thickener operation.
If the bed is not settling at
the required rate, then
reduce the
‘SETTLING TIME
SP’
to be 50s (See Section
