APPENDIX C - Setting up ECOJET / ECOSTAR 1500 for remote modem
operation

This section covers how to setup and call an ECOJET / ECOSTAR 1500 Network using a modem.
YOU WILL NEED:

1.  HAYES ACCURA 336 V.34 EXTERNAL MODEM
2.  ECOJET / ECOSTAR 1500 PC MODULE
3.  STANDARD PC MODEM CABLE
4.  ECOJET / ECOSTAR 1500 MODEM CABLE
5.  PC or LAPTOP COMPUTER TO PROGRAM ECOJET / ECOSTAR 1500 PC MODULE

AND EXTERNAL MODEM

Theses setting only apply to the HAYES ACCURA 336 V.34 EXTERNAL MODEM

STEP ONE

Configuring the ECOJET / ECOSTAR 1500 PC MODULE for MODEM APPLICATION

1. Connect and power up ECOJET / ECOSTAR 1500 PC Module
2. Go to the ECOJET / ECOSTAR 1500 Network files commands view and select VIEW, then

TERMINAL.

3.  Select PTM-6000 SETUP #5 and press enter.
4.  Select Y = YES, press ENTER.
5.  Select 2 = MODEM, press ENTER.
6.  Select N=NO, press ENTER.
7.  Select #3 PTM Access code and change setting to a five-digit code of your choosing.
8.  Click close button on screen to finish setting up the ECOJET / ECOSTAR 1500 PC MODULE in

modem mode.

STEP TWO
NOTE: These instructions apply to Windows 3.1 only. You must have a standard PC modem cable to
connect your PC to the modem. Connect modem to PC, then apply power.

Configuring the EXTERNAL MODEM to run on the ECOJET / ECOSTAR 1500 NETWORK

1. Start Windows 3.1. From PROGRAM MANAGER, go to ACCESSORIES, then double click on

TERMINAL.

2. Select SETTINGS, then COMMUNICATIONS. Select the correct com port for your PC. Click OK.
3. Type the following commands:

a) ATS0 = 1

Press ENTER. Modem will answer back OK.

b) AT&C1

Press ENTER. Modem will answer back OK.

c) AT&D2

Press ENTER. Modem will answer back OK.

d) AT&K4

Press ENTER. Modem will answer back OK.

e) AT&Y0

Press ENTER. Modem will answer back OK.

f.) ATQ1

Press ENTER.

g) AT&w0

Press ENTER.

Disconnect modem cable from PC and Modem.
Connect ECOJET / ECOSTAR 1500 MODEM CABLE to PC MODULE and MODEM.
