Starting the power sprayer
Preparation for starting
x
Make sure all screws are perfectly tight.
x
Screw the spray tube into the revolver valve and tighten the spray hose to the outlet of the sprayer
by means of the wing-nut.
x
Fill the fuel tank.
Caution!!
Two-stroke engine
Being a two-stroke engine, only a mixture of petrol and oil in the ratio 25:1 may be used or Aspen fuel.
The knapsack power sprayer may be operated on leadless petrol. Never allow the engine to run on
petrol alone, as this will damage it.
Filling the chemical tank with fluid
Pay attention to your own safety: Wear gloves, goggles, breathing mask and protective clothing. Pay
attention to the instructions of the supplier of the pesticide.
x
Only fill the tank with fluid soluble in water or powder stirred well into water. Pay attention that the
container must always be filled in with the spray mixture through the filling sieve
.
The tank is marked
with lines for 5, 10 and 20 litres; when completely full it holds 23 litres (mark 6 on the opposite page).
x
Always fill the tank with water first, then pesticidal fluid. Before you pour a powder mixture into the
tank, it must first be stirred well into water.
Caution !!
If there is no fluid in the tank, the engine must not be started, otherwise the pump could
be damaged by running dry.
Starting the engine
x
Set the pressure regulator to the “Starting” position.
x
Open the petrol cock and close the choke. (In the summer or when the temperature is higher or the
engine is warm enough, it will start with the choke half or fully open).
x
Set the gas control handle to elevated speed.
x
Lightly actuate the recoil starter a few times.
x
To start the engine, give the starter a strong pull.
If, after pulling several times, the engine does not start, try again with the choke partly open, or finally
fully open. The starter line should not be pulled out completely.
x
When the engine has started, slowly open the choke and set the gas handle to a lower speed until, after a
short while, the engine is warm.
In a order that you may spray with the maximum possible comfort, adjust the length of the shoulder straps
so that the weight of the sprayer when on your back is uniformly distributed between the hips.
x
To de-aerate the unit, keep the revolver valve open until fluid emerges from the spray nozzle.

Operating the sprayer
Spraying
x
The spraying pressure can be varied adjusting the speed of the engine. High speed produces
high pressure.
x
The fluid in the chemical tank is stirred by the return from the pump.
x
Fitted between the engine and the pump is a centrifugal clutch. Therefore the unit should be
operated at between elevated and full speed.
x
If the chemical tank is empty, turn off the engine (do not allow the pump to run dry).
To shut off the engine
x
Close the spray tube, set the pressure regulator to „Starting“, set the gas control handle to idling
speed and press the stop button. Close the petrol choke.
x
If the unit is not be used for some length of time, empty the float housing of the carburetor by
allowing the engine to continue running with the petrol cock closed.
(
Caution!!
Do not allow the pump to run dry).
