Riding your eBike for the first time.
WARNING: ELECTRIC BIKES CAN BE DANGEROUS. THEY ARE INTENDED TO BE RIDDEN
BY ADULTS NOT CHILDREN. WE DO NOT RECOMMEND ANYONE UNDER THE AGE OF 16
TO RIDE AN ELECTRIC BIKE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. YOU MUST CHECK YOUR
STATE AND LOCAL AUTHORITY LAWS AND REGULATIONS ABOUT WHERE YOU CAN
RIDE.
General Advice:
You must be over the age of 14 to ride an electric bike in most states. Bikes
must not be ridden at speeds above 25km/h with the motor engaged on any public road or
cycleway. You do not need to register the bike (as with a motorbike or car). You do not need a
licence to ride and electric bike. You do need common sense and an awareness of other road
users.
YOUR FIRST RIDE
Press up arrow until ONE assist bar appears. This is the lowest power setting. Ready yourself to
ride, check your surroundings for traffic or other hazards. Pedal your bike. After half a turn, the
motor will cut in and start to assist you. It will keep assisting you until you either STOP using the
pedals or use the break.
Try this, ride for about ten seconds, then stop pedaling and coast. You will notice the motor cuts
out. Pedal again and power returns. Congratulations, you are riding an electric bike!
