Operation
Transmission Power Take Off Operation
A transmission Power Take Off (PTO) feature is available for Stationary PTO
operation in Neutral and Mobile PTO operation in a forward or reverse start
gear. For Mobile PTO operation the transmission system automatically selects a
start gear based on vehicle operating conditions such as: grade, load, and vehi-
cle weight. Refer to
“Smart Gear Selection” on page 20.
Note:
All transmissions are equipped with a bottom mount 8-bolt PTO opening.
A dual PTO optioned transmission is available with a rear mounted 4-bolt PTO
opening.
NOTICE:
The default configuration for this feature in the Transmission Control
Module (TCM) is Disabled unless Enabled at the OEM or Body Builder. The con-
figuration can be changed using ServiceRanger.
WARNING:
Failure to properly install the PTO and configure the TCM for PTO
operation may result in major vehicle component damage, severe injury or
death.
WARNING:
Apply vehicle parking brake and follow OEM parking instructions.
Failure to follow these instructions could cause unintended vehicle movement
and may result in major vehicle component damage, property damage, severe
injury or death.
