EasyIO FW Series – Network Connectivity v2.0

Wi-Fi
If Wi-Fi is used to establish a connection to a FW series controller you can choose either one of the
below.
Main Wi-Fi SSID
A brand new FW controller is Wi-Fi Access Point mode by default (firmware V1.0b1k and above).
It has DHCP server enable. The main Wi-Fi SSID is DHCP server.
The best approach to connect to a brand new FW series controller is by utilizing its DHCP server and run
automatic IP address in your device.
Step 1
From your computer wireless network shortcut locate the controller SSID (default main SSID is FW-xxxx)
and connect.
Enter password as
12345678
when prompt.
Step 2
Once the computer is connected you should be able to ping the controller via command line.
FW default IP address which is 192.168.10.30.
A simple diagram below shows an example of IP address configure in the laptop computer.
It has a static IP address 192.168.10.101 with subnet mask 255.255.255.0
Secondary Wi-Fi SSID
The secondary Wi-Fi SSID has DHCP server enable by default, BUT this SSID is hidden by default.
The SSID is active just SSID name broadcasting is disable.
The reason the secondary SSID hidden is to reduce the number of SSID seen during Wi-Fi network
scanning.
Deploying multiple FW in a same area will create massive Wi-Fi networks. Thus hiding the secondary SSID
will reduce mistakes in connecting to a Wi-Fi network.
The secondary SSID can also be used as a installer/engineer access to the controller in case of a lost IP or
network configuration messed up.
Using this method require some advance network knowledge as one is require to manually create a new
network connection in their Operating system (Windows or MAC OS).
In the following below are some simple instructions to manually create a network connection for
Microsoft Windows 7 OS.
