BARRIER SAFETY FEATURES
The ES8900 incorporates certain safety measures to
comply with provisions of NFPA 101. Upon power loss,
all locking mechanisms are released and the barrier may be manually operated with minimal (<5 lbf)
force. Should emergency egress be required when the turnstile is powered, each barrier is equipped
with a breakaway mechanism that will release it when pushed with as little as 30 lbf and no more than
50 lbf. Once released, the barrier may be manually operated with minimal force.
Resetting Barrier after Breakaway
When a user has pushed through the barrier, it will break away when 30 lbs. of force is applied.
This will result in an alarm condition, triggering an audible and a relay output alarm indication.
To return the lane to operation:
Swing the glass barrier back toward it’s normal position across the lane.
When it reaches the detent it will lock back into place
The lane may now resume operation after resetting the alarm condition.
Adjusting Breakaway Pressure
The pressure required to breakaway the glass barrier should not need adjustment in normal
operation
Should an installation have unique conditions which would require that this breakaway force be
reduced, please contact DSI Customer Service at 800 272 3555 for assistance.
