Despite observing the specified safety distances, temperature-sensitive materials such as
fleece, vinyl, textured/textile wallpaper or similar may discolour in the area around the stove.
This discolouration is due to the nature of thematerials. DROOFF Kaminöfen accepts no liability
in this regard, as the information on safety distances applies only in terms of fire protection.
1.3 The chimney
The stove works based on a simple principle of physics, which states that warm gases rise. This is what
causes the hot flue gases from the stove to be drawn upwards through the chimney while combustion
air flows from the room (or from outside in the case of stoves with an outside air connection) into the
firebox. In this sense, the chimney draught can be thought of as the ‘motor’ of every stove. It can be
influenced by various factors, including not only the cross-section, height and insulation of the chimney,
but also the outside temperature.
Every stove has its own special characteristics: Flue gas deflectors increase efficiency, but create resistance.
As for flue gas temperatures and quantities, these differ from one stove model to the next. This means
every stove places its own particular demands on the chimney, so it may be the case that a good stove
and a functioning chimney do not work well together. Just because a chimney draws well, this does
not mean to say that its draught or temperature conditions are actually suitable for a given stove. Both
chimney and stove have to be a good fit. This is why it is important to ask a specialist, a local chimney
sweep or a stove retailer in advance to check whether your stove also fits your chimney.
We always recommend referring to EN 13384 for any chimney calculations!
1.4 Connecting to the chimney
Once you have planned to connect your stove to the chimney, the next step is to contact a responsible
local chimney sweep so that they can inspect your burner.
In addition to checking the suitability and compatibility of your chimney with a stove, they will also
advise you on national and European building standards and local regulations.
DROOFF stoves are always tested in accordance with construction type 1. They feature a self-closing
firebox door, which makes them suitable for multiple occupancy of your chimney. Your specialist retailer
or chimney sweep will be happy to provide you with more details on the suitability of your chimney for
multiple occupancy. Please note that multiple occupancy is not tested for room-air-independent operation.
The components needed to connect your stove to the chimney are not included with the stove.
These components are available from specialist retailers. The diameter of the connection pipe for your
DROOFF stove is 150 mm, which means flue pipes according to EN 1856-2 are suitable. When installing
the flue pipe, be sure to observe the necessary safety distances from combustible materials.
Stoves are modern, technically complex appliances. They can only function properly and, above all,
safely if they are connected to the chimney in compliance with all professional rules and regulations.
Your stove must be connected to the chimney by a professional.
