The 9003 cot incorporates hinged access points, as shown above. If the product is
used in a general ward environment and a patient is likely to be unsupervised at any
time Drive DeVilbiss Healthcare recommends that a risk assessment is carried out to
determine, amongst other potential risks, whether the patient could reach the hinged
access points.
To position the tubes through the gap in the head/foot end, lift the green latch,
position the tubes through the gap and then re-close the latch.
Cot ends which do not feature a hinged access point are available to purchase through
Drive DeVilbiss Healthcare.
13.1 Hinged Access Point
If the patient is able to reach, or handle the hinged part on the cot ends it
is not advisable to leave them unattended. Although the potential of the
patient or garments becoming entrapped is low, a hazard is introduced if
this scenario should occur; therefore an assessment should be carried out
on a patient by patient basis.
