contribution from the hi-hat whilst retain as much of the snare sound as possible.

It’s likely that the Threshold will have to be re-adjusted, as the level may have to be
quite high, and you will have to be careful not to miss the quieter hits, but the hi-hat
should be gated completely, with no unwanted false triggering.
