Infrared Down

This function applies only to those controllers equipped with our Universal

Infrared System. Use this function to designate a button on the remote (any
remote) to control downward movement of the lift.

Enter setup mode pressing SETUP and   together, and holding for 5

 seconds.

Press SETUP until Ird appears in the display.

Press  . You will hear a single beep, and the display will change to I.rd,

indicating that the system is ready for programming.

Aim the infrared remote control at the infrared eye, which should be

connected to an infrared port on the bottom of the controller.

Press the button on the infrared remote that you would like to designate as

the button to control downward movement. You will fi rst hear a double

beep, and then a little later you will hear a triple beep. The triple beep

signifi es that the code is recognized and the task is fi nished.

  Exit Setup mode.

Infrared Up

This function applies only to those controllers equipped with our Universal

Infrared System.  Use this function to designate a button on the remote (any
remote) to control upward movement of the lift.

Enter setup mode pressing SETUP and   together, and holding for 5

 seconds.

Press SETUP until Iru appears in the display.

Press  . You will hear a single beep, and the display will change to I.ru,

indicating that the system is ready for programming.

Aim the infrared remote control at the infrared eye, which should be

connected to an infrared port on the bottom of the controller.

Press the button on the infrared remote that you would like to designate as

the button to control upward movement. You will fi rst hear a double beep,

and then a little later you will hear a triple beep.  The triple beep signifi es

that the code is recognized and the task is fi nished.

  Exit Setup mode.

Count

With this function, you can determine how many times the lift has been cycled

(assuming the same lift and controller have been paired since new).  A cycle is
one complete lifting/lowering action.  To see how many times the lift has been
cycled, do the following:

Enter setup mode pressing SETUP and   together, and holding for 5

 seconds.

Press SETUP until Cou appears in the display.3

Pressing   displays the number of cycles (up to 999).

Pressing   displays the number of cycles in thousands.

  Exit Setup mode.

Bypass

This is the temporary bypass mode.  In this mode, the controller

temporarily ignores all previously programmed instructions. IT ALSO
IGNORES ALL THE PROGRAMMABLE SAFETY FUNCTIONS AND
FEATURES. PLEASE EXERCISE CAUTION WHEN USING THIS FEATURE!

The bypass feature may be used in special situations.  For example, a

programmed controller might be removed from a shorter lift model and then
connected to a taller lift model. During operation of the taller lift, the lift may
stop before reaching the bottom of its travel, because the controller is still
programmed for the shorter lift, and assumes that it has already reached the
bottom limit of travel for the shorter lift.

To use the bypass feature, do the following:

Enter setup mode pressing SETUP and   together, and holding for 5

 seconds.

Press SETUP until byp appears in the display.

Use   or   to move the lift up or down as desired.

  Exit Setup mode.

End

Use this function to exit and lock the Setup mode, thereby preventing inadvertent

changes to the settings or tampering by unauthorized persons.  To exit Setup
and lock access to the Setup mode:

Press SETUP until  End appears in the display.

Press   to exit and lock the Setup mode.

ELECTRICAL CURRENT/LOAD MONITORING

One of the built-in safety features of the lift is based upon the fact that the

harder the lift motor has to work, the more current it will draw.  Should the lift
encounter any unusual resistance during its travel, the current being drawn by
the motor will increase rapidly.  If there were no automatic means of cutting power
to the motor, the result could be personal injury or damage to the motor or the
lift.  For this reason, the controller is designed to sense when the current being
drawn exceeds a certain limit, and will instantly cut power to the motor, which
immediately stops the lift.

Monitoring the Current

It is possible to monitor the current being drawn by the motor while the lift is

in motion.  Simply press SETUP while the lift is going up or down.  The actual
current being drawn by the lift will be shown (in amps) in real time on the controller
display.

This feature may also be used to detect gradual changes in current draw that

could give an early indication of an impending internal mechanical failure (such
failures are rare, but they can occur).

Setting the Current Limits

Because the lift is designed to accommodate a wide variety of screens of

various sizes and weights, it is important that the current limits be adjustable to
the values appropriate to the weight of the screen being used. With this lift and
controller, it is possible to set the upper current limit to any value desired within
the normal operating range, which is 4.5 to 6.5 amps, depending on the weight
of the screen.  The reading should never exceed 8.0 amps, which is the factory
default setting.

To set the limit for upward travel:

Run the lift up with the planned load.

Monitor the current and note the maximum reading.

Using the “Current Up” feature (see above), set the limit to 1 amp higher

than the maximum reading noted.

To set the limit for downward travel:

Run the lift down with the planned load.

Monitor the current and note the maximum reading.

Using the “Current Down” feature (see above), set the limit to 1 amp higher

than the maximum reading noted.

Example:  During upward travel, you note that the maximum reading is 3

amps.  Use “Current UP” to set the limit at 4 amps.
