release oF the DmF-480 stuDio Flash with battery
There are various possibilities to release the flash:
• Radio Signal Remote Release
The DMF-480 studio flash comes with an integrated radio signal receiver. With the
supplied radio signal remote release, you can release the flash wirelessly within a
range of up to 100m. The use of telephoto focal lengths therefore becomes
possible. When starting use, first switch the remote release on. In order to avoid
interference sources, there are 16 radio signal channels available.
Important: Both release and receiver must be set to the same channel.
When the battery of the remote release (1x 23A/12V) is exhausted, replace it by a
new one. Therefore, open the battery compartment lid at the bottom of the release
by sliding it in direction of the arrow. Change the battery and respect the correct
plus/minus order (see symbols in battery compartment). Close the battery compart
lid again. The control LED of the release will glow as soon as the flash’s test button
is pressed.
• Sensor (Photo Cell/Slave)
You can trigger the DMF-480 studio flash wirelessly by another flash unit. Press
the sensor button to activate the photo cell. Place the flash at the desired position.
The light sensitive photo cell will react on reflected light by synchronized trigger
ring of the flash.
light Formers
The DMF-480 studio flash is fitted with a Bowens bayonet. It is therefore possible to
connect a variety of light formers out of the DÖRR studio accessory line – an optional
adapter ring will be required. Light formers are essential for attractive portrait shoo-
ting and for a creative light composition.
The DMF-480 studio flash comes with a standard reflector. For the use of a light
former, you need to remove the standard reflector. Tear the unlock key backwards
and remove the reflector by turning it counterclockwise. In order to attach the light
former, place it on the bayonet and turn clockwise until it clicks closed.
The DMF-480 studio flash comes with a front diffusor for the standard reflector. It
softens the illumination provided by the standard reflector, which is essential e.g.
for portraits. The diffusor, however, is not an alternative to a softbox. The diffusor is
simply plugged onto the standard reflector.
transPort anD storage
The DMF-480 studio flash is supplied with a sturdy aluminum case – ideal for comfor-
table transport and safe storage.
If you wish to take the flash without case, use the incorporated grip. Press on the
marking on top of the grip. The grip will now unfold off the housing.
Alternatively, you can use the supplied carrying strap. Screw it into the screw mount
at the bottom of the flash. The strap is variable in length.
