Operating Instructions

DWS 1 Water Stop Sensor

8. General Information

The DWS 1 water stop sensor is a component of the Dupline installation system and per-
mits the detection of water leakage and the transmission of the alarm via the Dupline bus.
The sensor is equipped with two Dupline channels: the alarm channel and a channel for
the transmission of a live signal. While the alarm channel is activated only in the event of
water penetration, the live signal is permanently switched on.

9. Important Notes in Advance

• The installation may only be carried out by an authorised technician
• This device is suitable exclusively for operating through the signal conductors of the

Dupline bus system, which have been installed in accordance with the requirements
for protective low voltage (see VDE 0100, Part 410, or EN 50090-9-1). Other signal
voltages - even if extensive protective measures are taken - may lead to irreparable
damage to the device as well as danger to people. For further guidelines refer to the
Dupline Planning Aid.

• The sensor meets the requirements of the IP 67 standard and is thus protected

against temporary immersion.
It may not, however, be immersed in water for longer periods or used for the mo-
nitoring of other fluids.

10. Coding

With the DHK 1 hand encoder each channel can be assigned any address between A1
and P8 via the pin strip. To do this, plug the supplied pin strip together with the flat-plug
programming cable of the DHK 1 on to the pin strip connector and ensure that sufficient
contact is provided - if necessary by holding the positioning at an angle. The channel al-
location is as follows:

Functions which are not required should remain uncoded. Encoding the DWS 1 requires
neither a power supply nor the Dupline signal. Although the coding is permanently re-
tained, it may always be overwritten.

11. Installation

The DWS 1 should be wall-mounted. First remove the mounting plate (B) from the PCB
(see chapter 15 “Anschlussschema / Conn. Diagram” on page 6). Fasten the mounting
plate with two screws in such a way that its spacer lugs are touching the floor.

12. Putting into Service

Observe the connection diagram when installing. All leads to be connected must be
